As real estate photographers, few assignments are as satisfying as capturing the blend of historic architecture and modern design. This Chicago condo is a prime example. Located in the vibrant River North neighborhood, this iconic red-brick loft building is a photographer’s dream: bold exterior lines, industrial-chic vibes, and interiors that blend style with sophistication.
Shooting the exterior of this building was all about timing and perspective. The angled corner façade and tiered balconies called for a wide shot that emphasized the structure’s size and symmetry. We aimed to capture it on a clear day with soft, natural light, highlighting the architectural texture of the red brick against the cool tones of the sky. One of our goals was to showcase how this building anchors the block—it's not just a residence, it's a visual landmark. The balance between modern high-rises in the background and the historic façade in the foreground creates an urban contrast that feels uniquely Chicago.
Stepping inside, we immediately knew the interior shots had to feel warm yet elevated. With its wood-paneled feature wall, marble fireplace, and designer furnishings, the space exudes luxury without being overdone. To capture this ambiance, we used a combination of natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows and soft interior lighting to preserve the cozy atmosphere. The symmetry in the layout helped frame a clean and balanced composition. The fireplace became the focal point—inviting, modern, and a subtle nod to the building’s blend of old and new.
This property is a standout for photography because it tells a story—from historic roots to contemporary reinvention. Exposed brick, steel, and timber beams inside the units speak to the building’s past, while luxury amenities and thoughtful design appeal to today’s buyers.
Whether we are photographing for a listing or content creation, buildings like this remind us why we love real estate photography: capturing the essence of a space so others can envision themselves living there.
